Exploring the world has never been easier, but the possibility of injury never goes away. Every cave, mountain range, desert, and trail I have been to seems to have a story attached of someone that got injured while exploring. With each story I hear reaffirms to me the importance of wilderness first aid. The difference you can make in helping yourself, the friend you are trekking with, or even a stranger you meet that is in need is defined by what you know and the tools you can put to use to provide aid.
What I provide in this course is the knowledge you need to provide basic life saving aid. This knowledge has been obtained by me through my 11 years of experience as a Corpsman in the Navy. I worked closely with the Marine Corps and have worked in some of the most demanding climates. From the Sub-Saharan Desert and jungles of West Africa to the snow covered Sierra Nevada Mountains in California I have experienced most of what you could come across first hand. After we discuss the techniques you will then put them to use through hands on practical application. These are skills that require practice and I ensure that the students in my course understand the how and why they are applying the skills they learn during this phase of instruction.
This class is meant to accomplish one goal. I want you to step out of your door and onto the road to your next adventure with peace of mind that if something does happen you can make an impact on the outcome.
